  • RICS Regulation

Proud to be Regulated by RICS

Who are RICS?
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) was established in 1868 and is the world’s leading professional body for land, property, construction, and infrastructure professionals. Their head office is opposite the House of Parliament in London.

Founded in the UK and operating globally, RICS exists to protect the public interest by setting, maintaining and enforcing the highest standards of professional competence, ethics and service. RICS does not simply represent surveyors - it regulates them.

RICS Chartered status is internationally recognised and trusted by:

  • Local authorities
  • Developers and landowners
  • Architects and engineers
  • Solicitors and insurers
  • Financial institutions and public bodies

Why does RICS regulation matter?
Becoming RICS Chartered, and operating as a RICS-regulated firm, is a demanding and ongoing process. It requires:
  • Proven academic qualifications
  • Demonstrated professional competence
  • Structured training and assessed experience
  • Ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Compliance with a strict Code of Ethics
  • Appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Independent regulation and professional oversight
RICS regulation is not a one-off achievement. Chartered status must be continually maintained, evidenced, and monitored to ensure standards are upheld throughout a surveyor’s professional career.

Why choose a RICS-regulated surveyor?
For clients, instructing a RICS-regulated surveyor provides reassurance that the work will be carried out to recognised professional standards and within a clear framework of accountability.

Choosing a RICS-regulated firm gives you:
  • Defined professional standards and quality controls
  • Survey information produced to published, recognised standards
  • Transparent written terms of engagement before work begins
  • Appropriate insurance protection
  • A formal complaints-handling procedure
  • Access to independent redress if a matter cannot be resolved directly
In short, it means your survey is undertaken by professionals who are accountable, regulated, and independently overseen, providing confidence in the quality and reliability of the information you receive.

Why Angle Surveys?
Angle Surveys Ltd is a RICS Chartered and regulated land surveying practice, and one of only a small number of RICS Chartered Geomatics Land Surveyors operating across the whole of Wales and we have worked extremely hard to achieve this company milestone.

In addition to RICS regulation, we are SSIP accredited through SMAS Worksafe, demonstrating that health and safety is managed to a recognised national standard.
This combination means our clients can proceed with confidence, knowing that:
  • Surveys are undertaken by Chartered Land Surveyors
  • Work is delivered in accordance with recognised professional standards
  • Health and safety is formally managed and independently accredited
  • Clear professional responsibility exists for the accuracy of the data
  • Survey information is suitable for planning, design, and construction
When comparing surveyors, it is worth asking not just what services are offered, but who regulates them, what standards they work to, and what protections are in place if something goes wrong.
Choosing Angle Surveys means those questions are already answered.
